North General Hospital

Our very origin is rooted in the idea that people of Central Harlem and East Harlem should have access to the highest quality care in their own community. This was the vision of Eugene McCabe and Randolph Guggenheimer when they founded the Hospital in 1979, and it remains the keystone of the Hospital today.

As the only private hospital located in Harlem, North General is the premier healthcare destination in the area, employing new and innovative strategies to address the unique healthcare needs of the many faces of our community. North General Hospital has a well-earned reputation for providing expert urban healthcare.


HISTORY AND OVERVIEW
The hospital is charting a new and dynamic course to provide access to the best prevention and treatment services possible. A team of highly skilled physicians, nurses and staff are leading this course. As members of the Harlem community, all of North General Hospital's talented and dedicated professionals share an understanding of Harlem's culture and healthcare needs.

Staff at North General Hospital work together to offer services and programs customized to the needs of our patients, including specialties in diabetes, vascular disease, hypertension and asthma. North General Hospital also offers pediatric, psychiatric and oncology services.

Transportation

From the East Side of Manhattan and the Bronx
Take the subway line 4, 5 or 6 to the 125th Street and Lexington Avenue Station. Walk 1 block west to Park Avenue and then 3 blocks south to 122nd Street.


From the West Side of Manhattan and the Bronx
Take the subway line 2 or 3 to the 125th Street and Malcolm X Boulevard Station. Walk two blocks east to Madison Avenue and three blocks south to 122nd Street.


MTA Bus from Manhattan
The M1 Bus runs uptown on Madison Avenue and stops in front of the Hospital.


Metro North Station at Park Avenue/125th Street
Trains on both the Hudson Line and the Harlem Line stop at the 125th Station. Exit the station on Park Avenue and walk south to 122nd Street.
